Welcome to First Steps Childcare Centre’s website.  We are a daycare centre located in Pickering, Ontario – at the west end of Durham Region.

At First Steps Childcare, it is our belief that every family has a right to high quality childcare. We will provide high quality care in a positive and stimulating environment geared to the needs of the family.

The key influence on a child’s learning process is the child’s sense of self-identity. The way children feel about themselves is directly connected with the way in which they relate to others, and how others relate to them.

A child is a person in his or her own right, and is therefore, entitled to respect and consideration, cultural nurturing and understanding by those responsible for the child’s care and education.

First Steps Childcare has implemented into the centre, HIMama – an online tool for parent communication and engagement.  HIMama provides a quick and easy way for our program and parents to record and share children’s activities, everything from silly fun moments to learning and developmental milestones.
